The dictionary defines SWAGGER as: swag•ger 1.to walk or strut with a defiant or insolent air. 2. to boast or brag noisily. 3. to bring, drive, force, etc., by blustering. 4. swaggering manner, conduct, or walk; ostentatious display of arrogance and conceit. We in the hockey realm have taken the definition of Swagger and formed our own word; “SWAGG”.

My name is Rob, I am a 22 year old student at the University of Rhode Island. I come from a suburb just north of Boston, about 10 minutes outside of the city. I have been playing hockey since I was two years old, it is the thing I love to do the most in the world. Every since I can remember I have been fascinated with everything about hockey, and I mean everything. Beginning at a very young age I became obsessed with the look of my hockey “dress game”. My older cousin told me when I was younger, “look good, feel good, wheel good.” Now at that time I didn’t really know what he was talking about, but all I heard was you needed to look good, so I mimicked all the pro’s gear and especially the gear my cousin was wearing.
I follow the NHL and collegiate ranks respectively, and I am a HUGE Boston Bruins fan. My father has had season tickets to the Bruins since I was five years old. Some of my best memories were at the old Boston Garden, especially when the Bruins faced off against the Canadians. Now I know that the new Garden has nothing on the old Boston Garden, but the 2008-2009 Bruins are making a push to bring hockey fever back to a city who hasn’t had much to cheer about (hockey wise) in a long time. The days of Neely and Bourque have passed, but a new era of Chara, Savard, Kessel, and Krejci has been ushered in. Watching hockey is my passion, and critiquing a player’s SWAGG has almost become nature to me.
